As the Hispanic population in Edmonton increases, many companies and organizations are realizing the value of their employees and members being able to converse in Spanish. Many organizations and companies also are travelling frequently to Spanish speaking countries, where knowledge of the Spanish language is an obvious advantage. Whether a professional corporation, small business, individual, church, or not-for-profit, the Spanish taught will be adapted to meet your needs.

Edmonton Hispanic School
The Edmonton Hispanic School is run by the Edmonton Hispanic Bilingual Association. In addition to offering Spanish classes for all ages, they also host various cultural events, such as dinners and concerts. They have three terms of classes: fall, winter, and spring, finding enrollment to low in the summer to offer classes. Their classes usually occur on Wednesday nights or Saturday mornings, and each semester has 25 hours of instruction, spread across 10 classes.

Gabriela Mistral Latin American School
The Gabriela Mistral Latin American School is an accredited heritage language school founded in Edmonton, Alberta, on October 9th, 1987, by a group of Latin American teachers and parents with the objective of preserving and promoting Spanish and the Latin American Culture. The school provides instruction for adults, children, and high school students. They offer affordable rates for exceptional Spanish language instruction in a comfortable environment with competent instructors and small class sizes.

Escuela Mill Creek School
Mill Creek School is part of the Edmonton public school system, located in Old Strathcona, and offers Spanish for children in elementary school. They can be reached by telephone at 433-5746. The address is 9735-80 Ave, Edmonton. Located in the same building is a Spanish daycare called Caminitos Spanish Playschool. Escuela John Paul 1 Catholic School
An International Spanish Academy, Escuela John Paul 1 Catholic School, offers Spanish bilingual programming for Kindergarten to Grade 2, with new classes being added each year. Located in Mill Woods, Escuela John Paul 1 Catholic School provides transportation for students in South Edmonton from University Avenue to the south city limits. They can be reached at 462-6448. Grandin School :

École/Escuela Grandin is a Catholic elementary school, serving approximately 330 students from kindergarten - 6, and a member of the Edmonton Catholic Schools District in beautiful uptown Edmonton, capital of Alberta. It is just metres away from Église St. Joachim Church, Edmonton's first Roman Catholic parish.
Students are given a well-rounded French Immersion education which is fostered through the medium of Canada's two official languages, French and English. The students receive all of their education in French except for religious studies and English Language Arts.
Since 2001, Grandin School has also offered a new Spanish Bilingual education! Students and parents enrolled in the program are able to get all of their subjects in Spanish except for science, social studies, English Language Arts and Religion (which are taught in English). Moreover, students in both programs benefit from getting some instruction in the other programs language (i.e. French Immersion students get some Spanish instruction and the Spanish students get some French instruction.

Recent statistics indicate that in excess of 40% of Canadians were not born here. Many of those who have come to Canada have established schools that teach and preserve their culture and language. That Latin American/Hispanic community is no different.
